To Authonomy or not Authonomy that is the Question?

I know I haven't written in a while but today I joined this new site called Authonomy. I heard about it at retreat, which I just came back from this last weekend. (I'll post more on retreat next time.)

So not only did I join but I found a few posts online that talked about the disadvantages of Authonomy. But I still decided that I was going to join, if only for the reason to read stories from others who think they are ready to try and publish. That way I can at least see what publishers and editors are having to deal with. It can be amazing the level that you have to be at, and the level that is entered. So far, I read one story today and I took an hour doing it. Gave a critique and over all, the first person I read definitely wasn't ready. But it was still a good story. I left a good critique.

Anyhow, that is the post for today, and the following posts I read to beware of Authonomy.

Is Authonomy authentic?

Well I'm an Authonomy fan.
I do agree that site has some issues with it's ranking and ratings. (feel free to call me if you have questions- I've been helping Deirdra and Shawnette and Theresa)

But...I have decided that there really are some great authors on this site. I've received some really good feedback and validation.

I've heard of quite a few people who have been "spotted" on the site...by agents, publishers (not harper collins either) and have gotten book deals. (Check out the forum under "good news").

At any rate... it's something fun and inspiring. I wouldn't put all my eggs in the authonomy basket, but maybe a couple. My book is on the site, however it's not ready for publication, I'm still working on it - but I'm grateful for the suggestions and comments.
Good luck.. I'll try to find you... or find me.

Again email me or call me if you want the low down on the rankings (theres a book ranking and a talent spotter ranking- the FAQ's don't spell it out quite right...but I figured it out).
Being the obsessive compulsive person I am.
Sorry for this LONG comment. LOL

btw...
I haven't even looked at a blog in weeks. Finally went to my blog today and yours was first on my list of blogging friends.

What's stranger is that I clicked on written vein....Not the title which said Authonomy.(didn't read the title)
Weird..Don't you think?
Hmmmmm.
Strange...

Krista,
LOL! And here I was thinking... Woohoo I've got a comment! YAY!

You are right about Authonomy, there are some major advantages to being there and I failed to put them in my post. Meh! I was distracted.

The biggest advantage is to be in touch with other writers who are doing exactly what you want to do or are doing. Critique is another.

I've only read one story and hopefully as I read more I can find some of those great writers. I'll be looking for you!
